Outdoor Adventures in Ecology

Put on your sun hats & rain boots and get ready to get down, dirty, and active in our local outdoor parks. We’ll explore forests, ponds, fields and streams and get to know the plants and animals that call these habitats home.  Fostering a connection between kids and the outdoors will be just as important as learning about water, forest, and animal ecology.  Scavenger hunts, bug & critter collection, journal writing, nature art, and experiential games to teach science concepts will all be part of this class.

This is a field trip class and will be held outside (weather permitting) at Ivy Creek Natural Area or the base of the Monticello Trails. On rainy days classes will meet at Sojourner’s.  Parents will need to drop off and pick-up kids at these sites. Students should be prepared to walk as much as 1 – 1.5 miles per class.
