Karine Morgan is originally from an island off of Tahiti, called Tubuai, which is located right on the Tropic of Capricorn. Growing up in America, she was still surrounded by Tahitian culture through her family. The first time she saw Tahitian dancing in Tahiti she was in awe of its fine form. Together with Aniseh Burtner, she formed the Tahitian dance group Moua Vahine. Since 2003 they have performed at various cultural festivals in Harrisonburg, Charlottesville, and Virginia Beach. You can see their Tahitian dance show on the local public access station.
Karine Morgan also learned West African drumming and dancing in Charlottesville. She started in 2001 and has taken
dance workshops in DC, Richmond with Ezibu Muntu, and Charlottesville with Kimberly Gladysz and Ursa Drums. She has performed for elementary schools in Virginia Beach, Richmond, and Charlottesville. Karine loves West African dancing and loves expressing her spirit through rhythms.
