Before working with CHEC, Stratton taught social studies and performing arts classes at the Living Education Center for Ecology and the Arts, a private secondary school, for eight years. He has also taught courses thought the Live Arts Summer Theater Institute and The Charlottesville Writing Center, as well as facilitating songwriting workshops on his own. He has been both a counselor and Program Director at A.R.E Summer Camp over many summers. Stratton has been involved in numerous projects and performances as an actor and a musician. He ran for Charlottesville’s city council in 2000 and 2002 focusing on Pedestrian Oriented Development and Self-Directed Education and continues to be involved with local transportation and landuse policy.
