Medoc Mountain State Park

Description Serenity seems to pervade Medoc Mountain State Park, enhanced by gentle Fishing Creek and a scenic open meadow that spreads from the picnic grounds. Fishing Creek flows for about 2.5 miles through the park. This camping trip is planned to complement other field trips and can combined with visits to the Sylvan Bird Park and the Roanake Rapids Canal Museum. These field trips are mix and match, so pick those that interest you.

Group Camping - Medoc Mountain
Want to camp with other CHEC families? The group site at Medoc Mountain fits 35 people and has a picnic tables, grills, and fire circles. Individual tent, trailer, and RV sites can be booked directly through Reserve America if that is your preference.
Notes: There is a short walk from the parking area to the group site. Cost is $5/person and includes both nights of camping.

Rockin On The Ridge (Elementary)
Explore the geology of Medoc Mountain park with NC State Park education specialist, Randy Bechtel. We will find out about how Medoc Mountain formed and what types of rocks are found in the park with hands-on activities and a visit to the mountain itself. The program will discuss types of rocks and minerals and the formation of mountains and ridges.
