Claire Chandler is both a teaching artist and a local performer. Currently the drama teacher at Village School, she teaches various theater classes, camps, workshops, and is a private coach at Live Arts, DMR Adventures, and Four County Players. She studied voice and movement at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts and holds a BA in English Literature and a MAT from MBU. She has taught theater for over ten years and thoroughly enjoys its unpredictable energy and how it can open up a world of self expression in young people. She has also taught language arts, Shakespeare, dance, and studio art. She loves learning from her students and tailors each course to match the specific needs and make up of the class. Claire has experience teaching in both traditional and nontraditional classrooms, and believes that the foundation of a life-long learner starts with creative exploration. Other passions include early 20th century book illustration, yoga, loads of coffee, her Charlottesville lady arm wrestling sisters in CLAW, and her 11 year old daughter and their brace of gentle giant cats.
