Pearl Buck Birthplace

Description Pearl Buck (1892-1973) was born in Hillsboro, West Virginia. She grew up in China, where her parents were missionaries, and returned to the United States where she was educated at Randolph-Macon Woman’s College. Pearl Buck earned a Pulitzer Prize for her novel “The Good Earth,” and she was the first American woman to win the Nobel Prize for Literature. The Pearl S. Buck Birthplace museum is a historic home in Hillsboro, West Virginia.
